THE AFRICAN AMERICAN ART OF WAR,
is a powerful yet poignant critique from author Michael Griggs. His ability to analyze and deconstruct White Supremacy and the behaviorisms that plague the African American community is both profound and breathe taking. The African American Art of War shows us how to fight the enemy within and the enemy without. New to the public, we already have orders for the fall semester. This book, we believe, is a must read for those interested in Africana Studies. It focuses on six areas: The Black Family, Integration, Economics, History, Manipulation and Tactics of War. The war, as Griggs points out, is the battle over the African mind! And it is our mission to reclaim those arts and the rich tradition of yesterday if we are to thrive and survive in this global atmosphere.
The Takeover, a step by step instruction on how to organize our communities to resolve some of the issues affecting our schools. It draws from some of the successful strategies from the civil rights movement and reminds us of what we did yesterday; can be use today. It does not romanticize and analyze the current dilemma of education as the mere incompetence of a few administrators and or policy makers. According to Professor Griggs, the idea of a 400 year elusive education charge to mismanagement and incompetence is both disingenuous and woefully misunder-stood. It’s intentional and because of the historical intentionality connected to the current power relations; it is a normal and well devise plan that have been the predictable outcome of oppressive regimes.
